North Miami Beach Waterfest

(Press Release)

A Hands-on Water Education Expo for All Ages North Miami Beach, FL (March 28, 2008) – One of South Florida’s most exciting watereducation expos, the North Miami Beach (NMB) Waterfest, is scheduled for April 12, 2008, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Senator Gwen Margolis Amphitheater Complex, located at 16501 NE 16th Avenue in North Miami Beach.

NMB Waterfest is a hands-on water-education expo that will feature how-to clinics and musical entertainment. Attendees will enjoy live music by Earthman Lanny Smith and the Planet Earth Project at the Senator Gwen Margolis Amphitheater. Guests will have the opportunity to participate in the interactive water-conservation exhibits on display from various South Florida environmental-education agencies, and attend clinics ranging from how to fix a leaky toilet to how to read your water meter.

“NMB Waterfest 2008 is taking a family-friendly approach in showing our community how to preserve and conserve our natural resources,” said Deputy City Manager Kelvin L. Baker. “We recognize that we’re all future custodians of our environment, and we hope NMB Waterfest will be a catalyst in developing environmentally conscious South Floridians. With Florida’s ongoing drought and tighter water restrictions, it’s important to learn new methods of conservation.” Sponsors of NMB Waterfest 2008 include the City of North Miami Beach Public Services Department, the South Florida Water Management District, the Foundation for Water and Environmental Education—formerly know as the North Miami Beach Water Fund, Inc.—and the North Miami Beach Community Redevelopment Association.

The City of North Miami Beach Public Services Department is focused on managing its natural resources, protecting and preserving the environment for future generations and providing reliable services and high-quality water to its customers. With a customer base of 180,000, it is the second-largest water provider in Miami-Dade County.
